Shore Road sees 68’s opening day parade

Batter up.

The sun shone down on Shore Road on Saturday, April 11 as the 68th Precinct Youth Council celebrated its annual Opening Day Baseball Parade.

The march – which began at 75th Street and Shore Road and made its way to 83rd Street, culminating at the Frank Schnurr Baseball Field – was well attended by players and families alike.

“It was a fantastic day,” said Chris Tropiano. “We had a great, great showing considering it was a holiday weekend. So many children and so many parents showed up and politicians, too – from Borough President Eric Adams to Councilmember Vincent Gentile and Assemblymember Alec Brook-Krasny.”

Additionally, Tropiano said, the parade paid tribute to Charlie Eichler who, this year, celebrates 50 years with the 68th Precinct Youth Council.

“It’s great to have the support from all of the parents and the volunteers,” Tropiano went on. “Honestly, it was just an awesome day.”
