State senator offers reward for info on alleged act of religious vandalism

State Senator Marty Golden on Tuesday, May 1 offered up a $500 reward for any information leading to an arrest in an unsolved act of religious vandalism he says occurred in his district sometime between Saturday, April 7 and Sunday, April 8.

According to the pol, who was contacted by a resident of Bay Ridge Parkway between Fourth and Fifth Avenues a few days after she filed a report with the 68th Precinct, the homeowner detailed an incident in which an orange was thrown at her glass storm window – which was displaying an illuminated cross in celebration of Easter – shattering it.

“I stand with this homeowner in calling on the neighbors and businesses on her block to see if their video cameras may have captured this act of religious intolerance,” said Golden. “I hope the offering of this reward will encourage folks who may have witnessed something, or who have video, to contact my office with information.

“As a founding member of the Bay Ridge Unity Task Force, I stand with the community in condemning hateful acts against any person because of their religious beliefs,” he went on. “We will not tolerate this in our neighborhood and I hope that this vandal is caught.”

Anyone with info is encouraged to contact Golden’s office or e-mail John Quaglione at quaglion@nysenate.gov. All calls and e-mails will be kept confidential.
