VIDEO: Bensonhurst crook impersonates cop, robs man

The NYPD is asking the public for help in identifying a brazen crook who robbed a 58-year-old man in Bensonhurst while impersonating a police officer.

The victim was accosted by the perp on July 24, near the corner of 63rd Street and 18th Avenue at around 7:15 p.m. Brandishing a gold police shield and ordering the victim to place his hands against a wall, the perp used zip ties to restrain the victim while searching his pockets.

The crook then fled westbound on 63rd Street in a gray Nissan Murano, empty-handed. He is described as a white male, in his twenties, wearing a black hat, black long sleeve jacket, tan shorts and black shoes.
