VIDEO: Police seek man involved in robberies in Bensonhurst, Gravesend

Authorities are seeking a man wanted in a connection to five robberies in the Bensonhurst and Gravesend areas.

Cops say that on Thursday, January 4 at around 11:55 p.m., the crook, holding a gun, approached a 27-year-old man at 77th Street and New Utrecht Avenue and demanded money. The suspect then stole the victim’s backpack and $100 and fled the scene in an unknown direction.

Minutes later, in the same area, the perp approached a 29-year-old man and asked if he had change for a $5 bill. When the victim said he didn’t, the suspect took out the gun, stole $4 from him and fled southbound on New Utrecht Avenue.

Then on Friday, January 5 at 78th Street and 19th Avenue at around 12:03 a.m., a 38-year-old male cab driver picked up three passengers and drove them to Avenue V and West 13th Street. Once they arrived at their destination, one of the men took out a gun while the second suspect stole the driver’s phone.

The three fled into the Marlboro Housing Developments where one of the alleged crooks, 18-year-old Ruhul Shordar, was subsequently arrested on robbery charges.

Later that night at around 2:58 a.m. at West Seventh Street and 86th Street, there was another incident in which the suspect cops are still looking for took out a gun, pointed it at a 26-year-old man and demanded money; however, he ran away after a struggle ensued.

Finally, on the same night at around 3 a.m. on West Eighth Street and 86th Street, the man approached a 20-year-old man and asked him for change. When told he didn’t have money, the suspect took out the gun and stole $320 from the victim before fleeing westbound on 86 Street.

Police — who released the request to the media on January 16 — describe the suspect they are seeking as a black male, 25-30 years old, and around 5’8”. He was last seen wearing all black clothing.
