Whole new food-shopping experience comes to Fort Greene

Whole Foods — which already has a supermarket in Gowanus and another in Williamsburg — will be debuting a new, less expensive variant in Fort Greene.

Whole Foods Market 365, which will open on Wednesday, January 31 at 292 Ashland Place, is described by the chain as offering “a curated mix of Whole Foods Market quality products in a friendly, convenient and value-driven environment.”

The new store, which is 40,000 square feet in size, is the seventh of its kind in the U.S. and the first to open on the east coast. It will be open from 8 a.m. till 11 p.m., daily.

Besides a full line of groceries which Whole Foods says, “Will meet Whole Foods Market’s rigorous quality standards and are free of artificial flavors, colors, sweeteners, preservatives and hydrogenated fats,” the location will include several casual eateries, including an artisanal bakery from Orwashers, renowned for its bagels; a vegan burger joint which originated on the west coast, Next Level Burger; and Juice Press, an organic juice bar.

“We are thrilled to open the very first East Coast Whole Foods Market 365 in the heart of Fort Greene, Brooklyn,” said Jeff Turnas, president of Whole Foods Market 365. “Whole Foods Market 365 will provide a fantastic combination of convenience, quality and value to families, students and commuters alike.”
