Yum! Brooklyn Eats to return

Food is big business here – not just the burgeoning restaurant scene, but also the increasing diversity of food manufacturing across the borough — and the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce has revitalized its signature program, Brooklyn Eats, to reflect precisely that.

On June 26, the chamber will host a day-long event featuring over 100 borough-based food and beverage vendors.

Completely free, it will enable residents as well as those in the business community to enjoy the tastes of Brooklyn.

“Brooklyn Eats will be the biggest and hottest food and beverage trade show the borough has ever seen,” said President and CEO of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, Carlo Scissura, adding, “We all know the food scene in Brooklyn is special and this show will bring together manufacturers all under one roof.”

Starting at 8:30 a.m., the event will kick off with a breakfast sponsored by National Grid, followed by a National Grid Presentation on energy-related cost savings and commercial kitchens.

At 11:30 a.m., famed chocolatier Jacques Torres will discuss his new project at the Brooklyn Army Terminal, and at noon, there will be specialty foods for sale featuring the products of Brooklyn’s food manufacturers.

Brooklyn Eats will go on until 8 p.m. with a special guest appearance by Stephen Munshin, the publisher of Edible Brooklyn, as well as cooking demonstrations by Brooklyn chefs Marco Chirico of Enoteca On Court and Lukas Volger, author of Vegetarian Entrees that Won’t Leave You Hungry.
