72nd Precinct Police Beat: Four perps beat, steal wallet from man walking home from cemetery

Between Wednesday, May 25 and Monday, May 30, the 72nd Precinct received reports of two assaults, two robberies, and two grand larcenies. The 72nd Precinct serves Sunset Park, Greenwood Heights and South Park Slope.

NICE GUYS FINISH LAST

A 39-year-old man was attempting to break up a fight at 59th Street and Third Avenue on Saturday, May 28 at around 3:15 a.m. During the altercation, one of the brawlers, wielding an unknown sharp object, cut him on the side of the neck. Following the incident, the man was treated for lacerations at NYU Lutheran Medical Center at about 7 a.m.

STRUCK BY A BOWL

Cops arrested a 36-year-old woman on assault charges on Wednesday, May 25 at around 2 a.m. after she allegedly struck a 31-year-old man with a bowl inside an apartment at Fourth Avenue and 49th Street. The man, whose head was bruised, was treated for injuries.

GRAVE MATTERS

Cops say a 33-year-old man was walking home from a cemetery on the northeast corner of East Third Street and Fort Hamilton Parkway on Wednesday, May 25 at around 2:30 a.m. when four perps, all men, came from behind him, punched and kicked him in the face and stole his black leather wallet before fleeing in an unknown location.

FAMILY FEUD

A 35-year-old woman was at a party on 53rd Street between First and Second Avenues, on Monday, May 30, when, at around 3:30 a.m., her two ex-sisters-in-law, a 32-year-old and a 22-year-old, allegedly attacked her. After punching and kicking her in the face and body, cops say, one of the perps stole her cell phone and cash, valued at $840.

HOUSE KEEPING

A 24-year-old man’s watch was filched from his room at a hotel at Fourth Avenue and 39th Street on Thursday, May 26. According to police, at approximately 12:40 a.m., a woman in her twenties got inside the room, and took off with his watch — worth around $8,500 — as well as his cell phone. The suspect was apprehended by cops and arrested on grand larceny charges. The man’s possessions were recovered at 33rd Street and Fifth Avenue.

GOODBYE HARLEY

A 35-year-old man’s $10,000 Harley Davidson was stolen from its parking spot at Third Avenue and 58th Street on Monday, May 30 at around 12 p.m. by an unknown perp. Although the owner still had the keys, the perp got away with the expensive ride.
