A road in Houston post-Hurricane Harvey.

Those looking to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey will need to look no further than Bay Ridge this weekend where, on Sunday, September 3, a group of local residents will host a bake sale benefiting the victims.

The bake sale – starting at 10 a.m. and lasting till supply runs out – will take place on 71st Street between Ridge Boulevard and Third Avenue.

According to organizers, the sale’s proceeds will be donated to both the Red Cross and Catholic Charities.

Hurricane Harvey hit last weekend, quickly going down in history as the most powerful storm to hit the mainland of Texas in over a decade.

According to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), an estimated 185,000 homes are said to have been either damaged or destroyed by Harvey as of Friday with more than 33,000 people said to be in shelters across the state.
