Although they were favorites coming in to play at Boys High, the 2-1 Tigers took nothing for granted, knowing they could be facing a dangerous 0-3 team which was desperately looking for its first win of the season.

Focusing on their game plan, the Tigers went right to work keeping the ball on the ground, sending Noah Solano (85 yards) into the end zone on a five-yard run to start the game. Troy Booker (133 yards) followed Solano’s touchdown with two of his own in the second quarter with a 35-yard run and a one-yard plunge to make the score 24-0 at halftime.

Working from midfield in the third quarter, quarterback Connor Fitzsimons (11-16 with 1 TD) brought the Tigers down to the three-yard line where he found Keyshaun Robinson (four receptions for 41 yards) over the middle on a post pass for the next Fort Hamilton score, which clearly put the game out reach for Boys High by the score of 30-0.

After a 50-yard punt return, Booker scored from the 11-yard line for his third three-touchdown game of the season — quickly becoming a season trademark of last season’s PSAL’s top scorer. Ricky Linton capped off the win with a final touchdown on a five-yard run to end the fourth quarter for the 44-0 shutout.

“We could have overlooked this team and taken them lightly, but we didn’t,” said Tiger Head Coach Dan Perez who applauded his defense for keeping its focus to keep Boys High scoreless.

Thus far, the Tigers have won all of their road games on shutouts — 44-0, 38-0 and 44-0 again against Boys High. However, facing number one Tottenville next week in Staten Island, it’s unlikely that the Tigers will continue to dominate in the same way.

“We have a very big game on the horizon. I know we’re going to have our hands full because of the team that they have and the job that the coaches do,” said Perez.
