While the world has its eyes on the results of this year’s historic presidential election, which on Wednesday, November 9 named Republican candidate Donald Trump as the president-elect, Brooklyn numbers showcased staunch support for its incumbent representatives, as well as Trump’s opponent, Hillary Clinton, who picked up close to 79 percent of the vote in the borough, according to unofficial numbers.
Locally, incumbents Dan Donovan (R-11th Congressional District), Steven Cymbrowitz (D-45th Assembly District), Pamela Harris (D-46th Assembly District), William Colton (D-47th Assembly District), Peter Abbate (D-49th Assembly District) and Felix Ortiz (D-51st Assembly District) soared over challengers to secure their seats.
Meanwhile, Marty Golden (R-22rd Senatorial District), Diane Savino (D-23th Senatorial District), Nicole Malliotakis (R-64th Assembly District) and Dov Hikind (D/R/C-48th Assembly District) did the same, but ran unopposed.
