Report: Dyker Heights among the 50 most expensive neighborhoods citywide

Dang, Dyker.

According to a new report released by Property Shark in early October, Dyker Heights – the South Brooklyn ‘hood perhaps best known for its elaborate holiday displays and family-feel – is among the 50 most expensive New York City nabes to live in.

The report — which details the median sale price of neighborhoods citywide, based on sales closed between July 1 and September 30 of this year – has the district, sandwiched between Bay Ridge, Bensonhurst and Gravesend, ranked at number 50. It is tied with Brooklyn’s Columbia Street Waterfront District for the most affordable of the most expensive nabes, with a median sale price of $785,000 for the year 2016.

All in all, Brooklyn is among the most expensive of the five boroughs, second only to Manhattan with a median sale price of $628,724 boroughwide – versus a whopping $1,050,000 across the East River. Meanwhile, Brooklyn’s average asking price is significantly higher than in Queens ($385,000) and nearly double that in the Bronx ($260,000).

Other pricey Brooklyn nabes include Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill, Gowanus, Boerum Hill, Prospect-Lefferts Gardens, Park Slope, Brooklyn Heights, Mill Basin, Greenpoint, Williamsburg, Bed-Stuy and Windsor Terrace.

DUMBO – the highest ranking Brooklyn nabe on the list – comes in at number four on the list with a median sale price of $2,404,070.

Earlier this year, Dyker Heights was ranked one of the top three neighborhoods in New York City for “living well.”
