Staten Island University Hospital honors 13 clinical chairs at 133rd Charity Ball

Staten Island University Hospital gave guests the royal treatment at a casino-themed night of eating, drinking, dancing, and raising money for worthy causes held at the Hilton Garden Inn in Staten Island.

Held in honor of “Seaview’s 13,” SIUH’s 13 clinical chairs, on Saturday, October 17, the evening gave off an “Ocean’s 13” vibe, which Donna Proske, executive director of SIUH, said gave the evening “creative play to honor [the] 13 clinical chairs who live daily in real life-and-death drama while guiding the practice of medicine and engaging in research, all while preparing future doctors for practice.”

The proceeds from this year’s ball went directly to the hospital—benefiting SIUH’s various programs and services.

“It was a top-notch event,” said Lori Pedone, who works closely with SIUH as The Home Reporter’s vice president of events for Brooklyn & Staten Island. “It was very tasteful and so elegantly put together, and it all was for a good cause.”

Co-chaired by Dr. Brahim Ardolic, the SIUH Emergency Department chair and his wife, Emma Ardolic, this year’s gala honored Dr. Russell Joffe, Psychiatry & Behavioral Science; Dr. Mitchell Maiman, OB/GYN; Dr. Theordore Maniatis, Medicine; Dr. Joseph McGinn, Surgery; Dr. Souhel Najjar, Neurology; Dr. Mark Raden, Radiology; Dr. Donald Ratcliffe, DDS; Dr. Philip Roth, Pediatrics; Dr. Henry Simpkins, Pathology & Laboratory; Dr. Phillip Vigneri, Radiation Oncology; Dr. Charles Vonfrolio, Anesthesia and Dr. Jeffrey Weinberg, Rehabilitation Medicine.
