Bay Ridge bar raises funds for It Gets Better, announces new ‘LGBTQ+ Nights’

Bay Ridge wine bar, The Owl’s Head, announced on Monday, January 9, that it raised over $1,000 at a December 23 event for the It Gets Better Project, a nonprofit organization that provides support to LGBTQ young people worldwide.

After the success of the event, the bar, which features a wide variety of global wines and craft beers, has announced a new effort to continue support for LGBTQ causes by now being open on Monday nights for LGBTQ+ Nights, with a portion of revenue being donated to LGBTQ charities. Money donated in January will go to the It Gets Better Project, and each month a related charity will be chosen by the bar and its customers.

John Avelluto, owner of The Owl’s Head said, “By adding Mondays and donating a portion of revenues every LGBTQ+ Night to worthy causes, we can make this good feeling last all year long.”

The Owl’s Head is open seven days a week and is located at 479 74th Street. Its LGBTQ+ Nights are Mondays from 6 p.m. to midnight.
