EDITORIAL: Brightening the holiday

The Thanksgiving turkey is now history, Black Friday has comeand gone, and holiday season, 2011, is officially upon us.

From Bay Ridge to Dyker Heights to Bensonhurst, homeowners andbusinesspeople are busy putting up decorations, adding lights andwreaths and inflatable Santas to lawns, porches and store façades, hanging garlands of greenery and helping spread the spirit ofmerriment across the borough.

The result is a gorgeous display – one that enchants both young andold, who slow down as they walk or drive by to enjoy the sight, which is so dramatic it actually draws people from otherneighborhoods and other boroughs to our corner of the world, justto soak it all in.
