Having breakfast with Santa at Holy Angels

Students at Holy Angels Academy had breakfast on December 3 witha very special guest – Santa Claus.

For the first time, the annual event was held in the 74th Streetschool’s cafeteria. The morning was filled with music by Christmascaroler Robin Greenstein, arts and crafts, face painting, cupcakedecorating – with cupcakes donated by The Brooklyn Baker — and ofcourse, pictures with the big man in the red suit.

Guests enjoyed a hearty breakfast of bagels, pancakes, eggs,sausage, fresh fruit, coffee, juice and hot chocolate, courtesy ofone of the academy’s parents who is a chef.

It’s wonderful. It’s such a really special day, said MaryBrannan, who teaches pre-k at Holy Angels, and was working at thearts and crafts station. The kids look forward to it and theparents make sure they have a good time.

Principal Rosemarie McGoldrick said that Breakfast with Santa isone of the school’s main events. I am happy to see the kids have agood time, she said, noting that the parent association hadorganized the occasion.

Zachary Kirky, six, was making jingle bell bracelets at thecrafts table with his sister, Simone. I’m having a blast! hesaid, adding that his favorite part of the morning was, makingcrafts with my school friends.

Robert Korsberg, six, was waiting for his table to be called forbreakfast with his dad Peter and brother Andrew, three. I justwant to see Santa, he said.

Amanda Hall, 12, was painting faces at a table in the back ofthe cafeteria. It’s really nice and my first year doing it, shesaid as she painted a red hat on top of a snowman’s head. I hope Iam not doing a horrible job.

Tyler Aguilera, nine, had just finished having a chat with Santa- and said that was the highlight of his day, so far. I don’t knowwhat I want yet, he said. I am having fun, so far!
