FREE HAIRCUTS

If you’d like an artier look for the New Year, check outBrooklyn Museum’s ongoing free First Saturdays party on Saturday,January 7, featuring musical performances, DJs and artist talks.This month’s lineup will feature a piece entitled The Brown Bearat 6 p.m., during which Brooklyn artists A.K. Burns and KatherineHubbard will offer free haircuts against a three-channel videoinstallation. The event runs from 5 to 11 p.m. at the museum’s 200Eastern Parkway location. MTA’S FIRST FEMALE CONDUCTOR

Children can take a ride back through time when a storytellerdressed up as Mabel Kline – the subway’s first female conductor -delivers a 30-minute performance on Saturday, January 7, andSunday, January 8, at 1:30 p.m. at the New York Transit Museum,Boerum Place and Schermerhorn Street. TILLARY PARK FUNDRAISER

On Thursday, January 12, the Tillary Park Foundation hopes toraise some green to preserve the emerald expanse of park, which islocated in downtown Brooklyn. SENIORS-ONLY POITIER SCREENING

Guess who’s not coming to this screening? On Friday, January 20at 10 a.m., the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) will present ascreening of the Sidney Poitier and Katharine Hepburn classic,Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner. Nominated for 10 Academy Awards,the film won two – best screenplay and female lead for Hepburn.This viewing of the 1967 film is only open to those ages 65 andover at BAM’s Rose Cinema, 30 Lafayette Avenue.
