MUFFIN’S PET CONNECTION: Week of January 26

DEAR JUDE: PLEASE HELP…A woman passed away suddenly a coupleof weeks ago. She had six cats. Her home was neat, clean andcared-for, as were her beloved cats.

Her daughters expected us to remove them immediately. They hadmade no plans whatsoever. They did not have enough carriers fortransporting. Clearly, they intended to toss them out onto thestreets. One of the daughters was trying to get the cats outthrough the window.

A neighbor, a friend of the deceased woman, immediately offeredto put the cats in his warm, unfinished basement. They are therenow, terrified and shaking – it is a scary place. Most of them werehiding but we did get two into a cage so far. They eat, when we arenot there. Sadly, they are suffering quite a bit.

The cats are non-aggressive, accustomed to living in a quiethome with an older person. They allowed me, a complete stranger, topick them up; they do not protest. Two of them are older cats; oneis at least 15 years old.

There is a buff kitty (pictured) and a long-haired black kitty. They are very bonded. There is another black long-haired kitty, twopanther-type black kitties, and a pretty Tortie girl. There are nokittens, most likely cats are spayed or neutered. They needhomes.’
