MUFFIN”S PET CONNECTION: Week of February 23

FEBRUARY’S LOVE ENERGY CONTINUES…WOOF WOOF: “Hi, I am RockyLabrador/Pit mix who would submit to a YORKIE. What a Mush Face I am! I am a beautiful eight-month-old boy, adopted as a puppy but became too big for my owners.

“They live in public housing where pets can not be bigger than 25 pounds. This is a recurring problem in New York City, but it is not my fault. I am one of those super-duper friendly Pits that make people re-think their misguided feelings about the breed.

“When I was young, I was hit by a car. There was a fracture of the femur that was never set. As a result, I have a disfigured hind leg that cannot bend. But I could care less. I run on all fours and love life to the fullest despite my slight handicap. It was either I go to the kill shelter or BAFN.

“I am safe and sound now, until my pawever home is found. Watch me drop on my back for belly rubs; be careful I could lick your face off. I am in boarding now which BAFN can barely afford. If you would like foster or adopt me, please call Laurie BleierBrooklyn Animal Foster Network at 917-754-3537

MEEOW MEEOW: SAM, a handsome, seven-year-old, 10-pound, brown tabby kitty needs to be re-homed ASAP; his mom is highly allergic to cats. He is neutered, current with shots, and had his annual exam on 1/26/12. Sam’s personality: friendly and will follow you around the house, will purr when petted. He lives with another cat and a parrot. He gets along fine with them. Please call: 845-608-3963.

PURRFECT BOOK: “A Holiday Hill Farm Book: The Legend of Mistletoe and the Christmas Kittens,” written by Joe Troiano, illustrated by Lydia Halverson. Mistletoe, born on Christmas Day, looked different from other cats; no one wanted him. His red, green and white striped tail sets him apart. What happens that changes him from an outcast to a hero is found in this delightful book. Thank you, Linda V.; this fun holiday gift is awesome.
