RIDGE NIGHTLIFE AND DINING: Bringing new dimensions to performing

A newly revamped studio in the heart of the Ridge is bringing to life a love of the arts in area kids and teens.

Last year, Dimensions in Dance on Third Avenue opened a second space, Dimensions on Stage

Last summer, Dimensions launched a series of summer classes focused on acting and musical theater. The programs were geared for all ages — from a Curtains Up Camp for ages four to seven to a Glee Summer Series for ages 11 to17, Broadway in Brooklyn for ages seven to 13, and even a Mid-Summer Night Scene acting workshop for adults. The new space was designed not only as an acting studio but the perfect spot for a black box performance, with majestic red stage curtains and a wide open floor space.

This month, Dimensions on Stage will launch an exciting new venture for Ridge kids who love to be on stage. The studio will be casting kids and teens between the ages of eight and 18 for DimensionsÂ’ new Youth and Theater Ensembles.

The ensembles will perform at the Third Avenue Festival, Relay for Life, and other local events. Members will be treated to training by theater professionals and a real shot at local fame. The ensembles are also set to appear in a series of YouTube and promotional videos, for those future stars of the silver and small screen.

Auditions for the ensembles will be held by appointment only on March 2. To reserve a time slot, visit the website or call the studio at 718-333-4167.Teens should prepare a monologue or be prepared to do a cold reading. Rehearsals for the ensemble will be held on Wednesdays at 4 p.m. for kids and Thursdays at 4 p.m. for teens.
