Local youth and community leaders gathered on May 30 to celebrate the Greenpoint YMCA’s Strong Kids Campaign Donors and Volunteers, and to honor former Board Member Patricia Ferris – this year’s Community Activist and Y Champion.
Ferris was recognized for her 16 years on Community Board 1, advocacy on behalf of the Greenpoint/Williamsburg Waterfront and open space access efforts, and nearly two decades of service on the Greenpoint YMCA board.
At the celebration, students performed excerpts from the musical “Annie,” and over $58,000 was donated by Exxon Mobil to the Greenpoint Y.
