The 84th Precinct got a new commanding officer at end of October with Captain Maximo Tolentino, who arrived just in time to oversee his officers through the pedestrian traffic and public safety concerns along Jay Street during Hurricane Sandy.
Tolentino is a 25-year veteran of the NYPD and has served neighborhoods in Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn, including Williamsburg’s 90th Precinct.
He said “it was a childhood wish” to become a cop, and that he is “an idea guy – if you have ideas, we’ll incorporate it [into our actions].”
