Gravesend crash lands five in hospital

Two people were seriously injured in a two-car collision on Ocean Parkway near Avenue W on Sunday, January 6.

One vehicle landed on its side in the accident, which took place just after 4 p.m. in the northbound main roadway of the thoroughfare.

A total of five people were taken to area hospitals, according to the Fire Department, three with minor injuries.

The accident occurred at almost the same place as a May, 2012, accident, in which 23-year-old Jamal Iqual lost his life, when the vehicle he was in was struck by a speeding car whose driver had lost control of his vehicle, which careened across the thoroughfare into oncoming traffic, crashing head-on into Iqual’s car.
