Jailhouse escapee from Brooklyn discovered in the Bronx

Brandon Santana, 24, was re-apprehended by police today — nearly over 36 hours after making a run for it from police custody at the 78th Precinct in Park Slope. His daring escape left one police officer with minor injuries.

In a statement, the NYPD said that Santana was taken in by the Regional Fugitive Task Force inside of 3930 Third Avenue in the Bronx, within the confines of the 42nd Precinct.

He is wanted for questioning in connection to the August 1, 2010 beating of Alexander Santiago, 22, at the corner of Fifth Avenue and 12th Street in Park Slope. Santiago died from his injuries while another man survived multiple stab wounds. The alleged ringleader of the group that did the attack, Randy Soto, 25, is in custody facing charges of murder in the second degree, as well as other charges.
