Nominate a 2013 Rising Star of Brooklyn

The Home Reporter and Brooklyn Spectator’s second annual Rising Stars Awards and networking cocktail event will take place on Thursday, March 21 at Steiner Studios.

This is our annual event where we recognize 40 civic, religious and community leaders under the age of 40. Last year, we recognized Father Michael Gelfant, pastor of St. Finbar’s Church; Christina Moore, Miss Brooklyn 2011; David Meade, executive director, Southwest Brooklyn Industrial Development Corporation; and City Councilmember Jumaane Williams, among others.

Nominations are still being accepted for this year’s event, where Cat Greenleaf, host of “Talk Stoop,” will be “Star of Stars.”

For the past four years, the Carroll Gardens resident has had her show on NBC, where she interviews popular musicians, actors and newsmakers in 15 to 20-minute segments.

A Rising Star is a young professional who has leadership skills, not only in his or her career, but in his or her community, as well.

“It’s a great opportunity to recognize young individuals making an impact in their fields,” said Joshua Schneps, co-publisher of this paper. “It’s also great to bring together people so that they can develop relationships and make new contacts with like-minded, hard-working people.”

The Rising Stars event will take place on Thursday, March 21 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Steiner Studios, 15 Washington Street, Brooklyn, N.Y. For sponsorship opportunities, tickets and any other information, call Jan at 718-224-5863 ext. 227.

Any nominations can be sent to jdigeronimo@homereporter.com or submitted online at www.homereporter.com/nominations.
