68th Precinct

Between Sunday, February 3 and Sunday, February 10, the 68th Precinct received reports of four burglaries and two grand larcenies. The 68th Precinct serves Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights and Fort Hamilton.

NAILED IT

A thief threw a rock through the front door of a nail salon located on 13th Avenue near 84th Street on Saturday, February 9 at 8 p.m. The perp entered the premises through the shattered glass door and took property worth $100. There is surveillance video available.

TENANT INTIMIDATION

Someone entered a two-family home on 70th Street near 10th Avenue by forcing open a rear window sometime between 10 and 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 6 and took $1,080 and a Bulova watch, belonging to an 18-year-old Asian female resident. The perp then broke the second floor apartment door, but was scared away by tenants inside. Neighbors said they didn’t see or hear anything unusual and surveillance video is available.

HEFTY THEFT

Someone broke into a home on 70th Street near Eighth Avenue on Tuesday, February 5 by damaging basement doors. The burglar went to the second floor and took a Sentry safe from a closet near the bedroom. The three-foot high, two-foot wide, gray safe weighed 250 pounds and had wheels. It contained passports, credit cards, $400, jewelry — including wedding bands, the house deed and Social Security cards.

TELLY LIFT

On Saturday, February 9, at 4:30 p.m., a 27-year-old Asian male left his home on 80th Street near 12th Avenue. When he returned at 4 p.m., the rear basement window, which does not lock, was opened and the bars were broken. Drawers in the living room and bedroom were left open and his TV, worth $1,000, was removed.

RAW DEAL

A 22-year-old white Hispanic male put his wallet on his desk inside a car dealership on Fifth Avenue near 65th Street on Thursday, February 7 at 12:45 p.m. He went into another room to get a glass of water and when he returned, it was gone. The wallet contained his Social Security card, debit cards, ID and $10 in cash.

TIRE HEIST

A 56-year-old white female parked her 2012 gray Nissan Maxima on Seventh Avenue near 81st Street on Wednesday, February 6 at 10 p.m. When she returned the next morning, all four tires and rims were missing, but the nut bolts from the tires were left on the street next to the car. There was no broken glass. The victim said new tires and rims will cost $1,200.

72nd Precinct

Between Monday, February 4 and Monday, February 11, the 72nd Precinct received reports of one robbery, one incident of leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident, three incidents of leaving the scene of property damage, two petit larcenies, one incident of illegal possession of vehicular identification, three incidents of criminal mischief and one burglary. The 72nd Precinct serves Sunset Park, South Park Slope, Greenwood Heights and Windsor Terrace.

FULL OF SPUNK

On Tuesday, February 5 at 9:15 p.m., a 28-year-old Asian female was walking along 50th Street near Sixth Avenue when she was approached from behind by someone who grabbed onto her purse. The victim held onto it and was dragged to the ground, causing cuts and lacerations to her right knee. The brave woman told the creep she had no money on her, just papers, and he fled eastbound on 50th Street, then southbound on Seventh Avenue. The victim was taken to Lutheran Medical Center.

SOCKET TO ME

Police arrested a 46-year-old white male on Wednesday, February 6 at 2:06 p.m., for allegedly trying to take a socket set worth $62.88 from a large Hamilton Avenue retailer without paying for it.

MYSTERY CRASH

A 66-year-old white male was involved in a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Fort Hamilton Parkway and the Prospect Expressway on Wednesday, February 6 at 4:10 p.m. When police arrived, the victim had sustained injuries but could not speak English. There were no other witnesses and the other car fled the scene.

HIT AND RUNS

On Wednesday, February 6 at 1 p.m., a 36-year-old male was driving his black Infiniti on 47th Street near Eighth Avenue when he was involved in an accident, causing damage to the driver’s side door. The other car left the scene before police arrived.

A 69-year-old black male was driving his 2008 gray Toyota Prius in the left lane of Fourth Avenue near Prospect Avenue on Tuesday, February 5 at 5:25 p.m. when he was sideswiped by a white Access-A-Ride van. He told the other driver to stay while police were called, but they fled.

SMALL SMASH

On Monday, February 4 at 9 p.m., a 36-year-old white female parked her 2009 gray Lexus RX on Prospect Avenue near Fifth Avenue. When she returned, the driver’s side window was broken, causing $200 worth of damage.
