Police Blotter: 76th Precinct for 2-19 to 2-25

From Tuesday, February 19 to Monday, February 25, police from the 76th Precinct in Carroll Gardens and Red Hook received reports of two grand larcenies, petit larceny, robbery, and other incidents.

 

Train spotted

Police arrested a 23-year-old man after he was seen walking between train cars and then discovered armed with a taser gun, which was exposed while clipped on his belt. He was found on the F train at the corner of President and Smith Streets on Friday, February 22, at 1:50 a.m. He has been charged with criminal possession of weapon and violation of local laws.

 

Phone snatch

A 58-year-old woman was sitting on a northbound G train at around 2:20 p.m. on Saturday, February 23, when the man sitting next to her snatched her iPhone 4 out of her hand and ran out of the car at the Bergen Street station, said police. The suspect is described as an 18-year-old black man standing around 6-feet tall, with a ceasar haircut. He entered the train at the Carroll Street station.

 

Lost in IKEA

A 32-year-old woman dropped her wallet while shopping in IKEA on Friday afternoon, February 22,only to find it later in the Lost & Found with $1,500 in cash missing, police said. The wallet was lost some time between 4:20 and 4:30 p.m., and the money was reported stolen at 5:20 p.m.

 

Razor Raid

A 46-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stealing two inhalers and three shaving razors worth a total of $55.51 from the Rite Aid at 182 Smith Street on Sunday, February 24, shortly after Noon. The man was charged with criminal possession of stolen property and petit larceny.

 

Bridge Trouble

Police are searching for two men who allegedly threatened and robbed a 27-year-old man on the footbridge leading to Red Hook, at the southeast corner of Coles and Henry Streets, on Saturday, February 23.

The victim said it was 8:45 p.m. when he was approached by the men, one of whom allegedly gestured as if he had a gun and then demanded his iPhone. The second suspect then allegedly took the man’s wallet, which held $60 in cash, credit cards, NYU and German ID cards, and a German driver’s license.

 

Car Cache 

Someone broke the driver’s side window of a gray 2007 Honda Pilot that was parked on Court Street at Bergen Street on Saturday or Sunday, February 23-24, making off with a power plug and $30 worth of coins, said police.
