Around 2,000 Little Leaguers and their families kicked off the 2013 baseball season by hitting the pavement and the field on April 6 for the annual Prospect Park Little League Opening Day Parade.
It was a beautiful morning for the walk up Seventh Avenue and then over to the Prospect Park Bandshell, where the ceremonial first pitch was thrown and a rousing first game of the season was played on one of the seven Long Meadow fields and six Parade Ground fields.
The Opening Day Parade was also an opportunity for Prospect Park to welcome families back to their 101-year-old carousel, zoo, historic programs, the annual Food Truck Rally, and the new Pop-Up Audubon interactive outdoor learning adventures.
