Third time’s the charm for Miss Kings County 2013, Christina Moore

Crowned Miss Brooklyn in 2011, Christina Moore will be representing our borough with her new title of “Miss Kings County 2013,” which she gained on Saturday, March 30 at the Manhattan Movement and Arts Center.

Moore proudly walked away as overall interview and overall swimsuit winner in this Miss New York Triple Crown Competition, which ultimately leads into the Miss New York State Competition—to take place in July at the St. George Theater, in Staten Island.

“This will be my third year!” Moore remarked, and “as the saying goes third time’s a charm!”

Whoever wins Miss New York State in July will have the chance to compete for Miss America in Atlantic City, sometime in September. Moore has also been a part of the Miss America Organization as Miss Verrazano last year, so wearing a crown in her head is no novelty to her.

“The Miss America Organization gives young women the unique opportunity to have a voice is our communities,” Moore declared, and over the last three years, she has worked tirelessly to promote her platform focused on raising awareness about Sarcoma.

“The driving force behind all of this is my Aunt Josephine Schiavo,” she confessed. Schiavo was diagnosed with Stage 4 Sarcoma and is a strong, fearless survivor, whom her niece looks up to.

Moore has so far coordinated six fundraisers, raising a total of over $30,000 for several Sarcoma Cancer foundations and plans on organizing many more. She received her Miss Brooklyn crown from Mallory Hagan, Miss America, who preceded her in the position.
