A beautiful evening for a Summer Stroll

Third Avenue was transformed yet again this Friday, as the second of 2013’s Summer Strolls took over the sidewalk.

Restaurants expanded into the street, allowing Ridgeites to enjoy fine dining, a beautiful sunset and quality entertainment.

Famed “Singing Cop” Daniel Rodriguez and wife Marla Kavanaugh wowed the crowd with their powerful voices at 89th Street, with Rodriguez delivering his renowned rendition of “God Bless America.”

Members of the Ridge Chorale’s upcoming production of Les Miserables performed classics such as “The People’s Song,” and jeered at the colossal crowd as they kept in character during “Master of the House.”

Bay Ridge native Jim McAllen signed copies of his newly released collection of short stories, Split Rock Road, at the Bookmark Shoppe.

“I wanted all the people who showed up to support me to know that if anyone has an aspiration to write, just do it!” McAllen said.

The upcoming Summer Strolls, which will take place on August 9 and 16, will run from Bay Ridge Avenue to 80th Street.
