Bensonhurst baby falls out window, lands on awning

An 18-month old baby girl was rescued from atop an pharmacy awning on 18th Avenue Friday afternoon, July 26, after falling from a second story window, police and pedestrians report.

The baby was spotted by a passersby, who entered the apartment building and banged on doors until finding the unit belonging to the baby’s family, who had not realized the child had been missing.

The child was rescued by the passersby from inside the apartment at around 2 p.m., although it is unknown how long she was outside.

She was taken to Maimonides Medical Center and is described as being in stable condition.

There is no word yet as to whether the mother, who was present in the apartment at the time, will face charges.
