Exercise your mind and body at the same time at the Bay Ridge Jewish Center at 10 a.m. today. Located at 405 81st Street, by the blue awning, classes are being offered every Thursday to the public to help strengthen their bodies and minds while doing Tai Chi. The first class is free. After your first free class, it costs $10 per lesson.

Today’s Medical Home Health Fair will feature screenings for depression, HIV Rapid Testing, and information focusing on mental illness and safe sex counseling. Advocacy voter registration will be made available at the event. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the fair will be held at Sunset Terrace Family Health Center, located at 514 49th Street.

The Youth Services Planning Committee of Community Board 17 and the 67th Precinct are once again presenting their annual Youth Happen’n event. There will be refreshments, entertainment, games, and fun for the whole family! The event will take place from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Paerdegat Park, located at on Albany Avenue between Farragut Road and Foster Avenue.

Come out and enjoy Puppetmobile’s “Little Red’s Hood” performance as part of the Friends of Sunset Park’s “Wednesday Mornings on the Hill” series. Free and open to the public, it will be held at Sunset Park, at the 44th Street and 6th Avenue entrance, from 10:30 a.m. until noon.

Brooklynites are in for a rare treat when singer, bandleader, and percussionist Sheila E participates in the BAM R&B Festival this afternoon. Best known as Prince’s drummer, Sheila E. has performed and recorded with Prince, Lionel Richie, Marvin Gaye, Gloria Estefan, Diana Ross, Cyndi Lauper, and Beyoncé. She will appear at MetroTech Commons, 5 Metro Center, at noon.

Learn how to perform digital miracles on your photographs after taking the “Introduction to Photoshop: Filters, Effects, Layers and More” classes. The classes will take place today, August 8, and August 15 from noon until 3 p.m. They cost $209 for members and $259 for non-members. It will be held at 3rd Ward, located at 195 Morgan Street. Eminem fans have the opportunity to attend the “Syfy Movie with a View” event tonight. Held at Harbor View Lawn in Brooklyn Bridge Park, DJ Who I Am will start off the night, with “8 Mile” being shown afterward. Following the movie, the short film “Until the Quiet Comes” by Kahlil Joseph will also be shown. Tonight’s event will begin promptly at 6 p.m. and conclude approximately at 10 p.m.

Want to strengthen your people skills? Attend the “Connecting With People” workshop tonight at 6:30 p.m., where you will learn about the art of being a connector both professionally and socially and what responsibilities and cautions come with it. The class will take place at Brooklyn Brainery Prospect Heights, located at 190 Underhill Avenue. The cost for the class is $12 and it will approximately end at 8 p.m.

Need a new book to read before the summer comes to an end? Come listen to David Gordon read a snippet from his latest thriller, “Mystery Girl.” Another author, Rivka Galchen, will also join Gordon. One of the most classic romantic tales of all times meets hip-hop in this new interpretation of “King Kong.” Written and directed by Alfred Preisser and Randy Weiner, the play production will be performed at Herbert Von King Park tonight at 8 p.m. Performed on SummerStage and part of the “This Is Hip Hop” series,” it is free and open to the public.
