Culture briefs: Trivia, walking tours and more

TRICK-OR-TREAT TRIVIA

For some pre-Halloween fun, the Brooklyn Historical Society and Green-Wood Cemetery have teamed up with trivia masters Chris Kelley and Stuart Post to host an evening of multimedia pub trivia with a “graveyard theme” on Tuesday, October 22 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Teams can consist of up to six players, who will answer questions via movie clips, snippets of pop music, visual clues and more. Prizes will be “killer.”

Admission is $10 for BHS and GW members and $15 for non-members. Ticket price includes one free drink. The event will take place at the Brooklyn Historical Society, located at 128 Pierrepont Street. To purchase tickets, visit http://bit.ly/19CT2lx.

ORGAN MUSIC CONCERT

Our Lady of Refuge Church will hold a dedication concert of its restored, grand pipe organ on Friday, October 18 at 7 p.m. Olivier Latry, one of the world’s most renowned organists from the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris will perform on the Kilgen Pipe Organ, playing works such as Bach’s “Toccata and Fugue” in D minor and Charles-Marie Widor’s “Allegro Vivace” from Symphony No. 5.

NEIGHBORHOOD WALKING TOUR

The Historic District Council will host a walking tour of Sunset Park on Sunday, October 20 beginning at 10 a.m. The tour will start at the landmarked courthouse at the corner of 43rd Street and Fourth Avenue and will end at 60th Street and Eighth Avenue in the heart of the borough’s Chinatown.

In between, guests will hear about the history, architecture, development and ethnic diversity in one of the neighborhoods deemed “Six to Celebrate” by the Council.
