Local kids strut their stuff at fashion show fundraiser

The Metropolitan Society of Kardamylians Inc. (MSK) held its First Annual Youth Fashion Show and Luncheon at the Rex Manor in late October. The event was initiated to introduce the next generation of American Kardamylians, and raise funds for the group’s scholarship fund. Every year, MSK gives a scholarship of up to $2,000 to qualifying candidates.“With all the things that we do, we want to make sure we include our youth. This fashion show was a good opportunity to present our youth and introduce them to our members and get them involved,” explained MSK President Captain Nicholas Skarvelis.Sixteen children ages four to 12 participated in the fashion show which included a DJ, and someone to announce their outfits, which were picked by the children.“They handled themselves well, had fun and the show was fantastic. It was very successful and we plan on having this every year!” said Skarvelis.MSK is an international corporation, based in New York that embraces its Greek roots and culture.
