Muffin’s Pet Connection: Giving thanks for our animal friends

HAPPY THANKSGIVING…Humans and animals share in this joyous holiday. We enjoy the festivities with good food, good friends, family, and glorify this momentous occasion by giving thanks for our many gifts.

Due to the vast differences between man and animal, our furry friends cannot tolerate many of our tasty foods, which can cause serious intestinal problems in hungry critters.

A variety of mouth-watering human meals often leave our pets with a bad taste in their mouths, and serious side effects. For example, fatty leftovers, meat bones and meat drippings can trigger upset stomachs, vomiting, diarrhea or internal injury. Pet foods are made exclusively for pets.

Packaging can cause choking or intestinal blockage. Foil wrappers can become as dangerous as razors when swallowed. Candies, alcohol beverages, flowers and leftovers are a definite NO-NO!

Remember these tips and have a safe, loving holiday. And we applaud the rescuers who feed, vet and care for God’s forgotten stray animals. God Bless and Thank You!

BROOKLYN BRIDGE ANIMAL WELFARE COALITION…Minerva is a gorgeous young small Bombay Black cat who loves people but finds dogs and other cats completely unnecessary. She would do best in a quiet home as a single cat.Minerva is healthy today although she has experienced mysterious symptoms of weakness and poor mobility. Extensive tests found nothing wrong, and Minerva has almost completely recovered. She still requires an adoptive family who is aware of her medical history, and willing to provide special care if necessary. She is spayed, vaccinated, FeLV and FIV negative, and micro chipped. Please contact [email protected] or call 718-360-9918 if you would like to meet Minerva in her Brooklyn Heights foster home.***MEEOWS ABOUT APRIL… FRIENDLY CAT LIVING IN PROSPECT PARK — One of the cats who is part of the Prospect Park colony has become extremely friendly. She is completely adoptable. I really would like to try to get April into a home.

“At this stage, she has become almost too friendly. She eagerly runs up to people (they are city workers trying to come and go in their big trucks) and I am concerned about her continuing to navigate that active driveway. Please call Johanna: 917-974-3553 or email [email protected].
