Guild for Exception Children holds Annual Beerfest at Marine Park Golf Course

Good times were brewing as the Guild for Exceptional Children (GEC) held its Third Annual Beerfest and Buffet at the Marine Park Golf Course on March 7.

The event was a fundraiser for the Guild, which supports both children and adults whom have been diagnosed with developmental disabilities. “The event was to raise money for our organization, programs and services,” said Caroline Mansuetto, associate executive director of development for the Guild

Entry to the event was $50 a person which included both food and beer tasting. The Guild was thrilled with the turnout and help. “We had over 130 people attend,” added Mansuetto. “We are very grateful for the support the community has given us. Our biggest supporter was our reception host, Marine Park Golf Course.”

Prizes handed out included wine gift baskets, and electronics such as Sony headphones and a computer keyboard. The event also featured a Super Raffle in which the first place winner took home up to 25 percent of the raffle sales.

Brooklyn Brewery was well represented with its various ales featured. Major beer contributors included Phoenix/Beehive Lobo Distributing Beverage Distributors, Manhattan Beer Distributors as well as Union Beer Distributors.

Major food contributors included Mejlander & Mulgannon Delicatessen, Key Food on Bay Ridge Avenue, FOX Paper, Ltd., J. Kings Food Service, Tasty Bagels, Your Baker, Leske’s Bakery, Bassett Caterers and Bova’s Meat Market. The event co-sponsor was Sovereign Financial Group, Inc. Raffles sponsors included R.P. M. Insurance Brokers and My Benefit Advisor.
