Its time to turn back the clock in the name of spreading cancer awareness.
The Rhapsody Players, a group of performing artists in local and regional musical theater, is hosting Spring Night Out, a concert event that will feature music from the 60s, 70s and 80s to benefit Frankies Mission, a non-profit organization that helps families financially who have a child battling cancer. The concert will be held on April 5 at St. John’s Episcopal Church Hall, 99th Street and Fort Hamilton Parkway.Theres nothing like an event where lots of fun takes place, said Camille Orrichio Loccisano, president and founder of Frankies Mission. Music brings fun. Everyone will get together and have relaxing while helping those with cancer. Its a win-win.Tickets to the concert are $20, and the proceeds are promised to go to a good cause. All funds raised for us will go directly to the families, said Loccisano. When you do something for us or host an event for us, you know where money is going. It will always be handed to the family. Thats how our operation works.John Heffernan of the Rhapsody Players, who will produce the evening, is no stranger to helping Frankies Mission. John has always wanted to do something for the kids we served, noted Loccisano. Theyve always been dedicated to us throughout the years. Were enthused to get it done. Theyre all great people (at Rhapsody). The Rhapsody Players are unique performers who provide a wide range of music. Ive seen them before. Theyre diversified. They dress elegantly in tuxedoes or more casual outfits, she said.Loccisano and her organizations main objective for fundraisers such as Spring Night Out is to lessen the stresses of families dealing with children diagnosed with cancer. We find out whats going on at home. Maybe there are medical bills that are mounting. One parent usually must stay home from work. That changes the financial makeup of the family, said Loccisano. We try to get their financial matters back into shape and reward them with a check. It helps them not have to worry about money matters. The only thing they should worry about is getting their child well and nurturing them.Frankies Mission and company have noticed the neighborhoods constant support. Its a really great thing. We are thrilled when people in community step to plate. It shows great dedication. We have good rapport with families. There are always amazing ways to raise funds for a worthy cause, Loccisano said.Along with the entertainment, the price of admission will also include coffee and dessert. Wine and beer will be sold for a minimal price. There will also several raffles throughout the event. Its going to be a great night. Were very happy and grateful. Everyone is going to have a lot of fun, said Loccisano. For reservations, contact John Heffernan at [email protected] or 646-335-2710.
