Unsung Bay Ridge: Supporting sports and more

NEIGHBORS WHO MAKE A DIFFERENCE: Our unsung heroes

Our person of the week is Michael Gallagher

He has also assisted the Bay Ridge St. Patrick’s Day Parade as an active member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. Michael was very popular as a bartender at the landmark Leif Restaurant and Pub. His recent purchase of the pub will enable him to re-open by July 15.

He plans on having the same menu and party room where we have held so many fundraising activities. We look forward to continuing our support of Mike as he does for our community.

Slice a raw beet and squeeze fresh lemon juice over it so that all surfaces are wet; refrigerate overnight and eat one slice per day. Your blood pressure should drop dramatically very quickly.

Eating four stalks of celery per day is said to lower blood pressure.

Two squares of dark chocolate daily is also a folk remedy for hypertension.

Watermelon is abundant at this time. Its benefits extend beyond refreshment on a hot day; as it is also recommended as a folk remedy for hypertension.
