Major home run for the St. Patrick’s Boys JV baseball program

This year, both the St. Patrick’s Dodgers and Cyclones baseball teams, ages 11-12 years old, clinched the championship title in each of their respective divisions, Division A and Division B.The team members, along with other St. Patrick’s players, gathered at the teams’ field at 97th Street and Shore Road on the morning of June 21 to celebrate a season of accomplishment and fun.And, it was quite the celebration. Not only are the St. Patrick’s Boys JV Dodgers baseball team division champions, but they remained undefeated during the playoff season in the St. Anselm league, defeating St. Ephrem, Our Lady of Angels and St. Anselm, who they defeated in the championship game, 4-3.“First time baseball coach Denise Alexander did a great job with the young team,” said Michael Wood, a Pee Wee coach for the St. Pat’s teams. “She had the pleasure of working with the kids and vice versa.”The Cyclones’ game took place on Saturday, June 14 at the 97th Street and Shore Road baseball field where they competed against St. Anselm’s Braves. Thanks to Cyclones’ pitcher Kai Higginson, the first four innings were hitless. In the last three innings, Luke Mead notched two RBIs, which greatly contributed to the final winning score, 4-0.“The team executed great base running,” said John Mead, manager of the St. Patrick’s Boys JV Cyclones baseball team. “We even had a couple of stolen bases.”The St. Patrick’s Baseball and Softball Program has been serving the neighborhood’s youngsters for over 30 years.
