Police Beat: 62 and 68 Precinct blotters

68th Precinct

Between Tuesday, August 26 and Sunday, August 31, the 68th Precinct received reports of two burglaries and three robberies. The 68th Precinct serves Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights and Fort Hamilton.

 

BLEACHED OUT

Sometime between 1:30 a.m. and 9 a.m. on Sunday, August 31, an unknown perp allegedly broke into a convenience store near 69th Street and Ridge Boulevard through the rear window. According to cops, the suspect removed $300 from the register and attempted to remove money from the ATM by pouring bleach on it.

 

UNDELIVERABLE

On Thursday, August 28 between 3:10 and 3:20 p.m. an unknown perp allegedly entered a delivery vehicle parked near 70th Street and Third Avenue while the driver was busy making a delivery. While inside, the suspect allegedly stole $11,286 from the driver.

 

FORCEFUL FLEE

An unknown male wearing a hoodie allegedly approached a woman walking near 62nd Street and Eighth Avenue on Thursday, August 26 at approximately 12:20 a.m. According to cops, the suspect approached the victim and stated, “Give me your necklace.” The perp then allegedly reached out and grabbed the necklace from the victim’s neck, forcibly removed it and fled the scene.

 

TOUGH CALL

On Wednesday, August 27 around 9:10 p.m., a man was sitting in his car parked on the corner on Eighth Avenue and 67th Street when two unknown men allegedly approached the vehicle. According to cops, the perps knocked on the window and then, the victim said, one perp pointed at an unknown object and stated, “Give me your phone.” The suspects took the victim’s phone and fled.

 

IN BROAD DAYLIGHT

On Wednesday, August 27 a woman walking near the corner of Fifth Avenue and Bay Ridge Parkway was approached by one unknown woman and one unknown male some time between 2 and 3 p.m. The male suspect allegedly displayed a black firearm and forcible removed the victim’s jewelry, valued at approximately $2,330.

According to cops, the victim was afraid, and waited a few hours to report the crime.

 

62nd Precinct

Between Tuesday, August 26 and Monday, September 1, the 62nd Precinct received reports of two robberies, five burglaries, nine grand larcenies and two auto thefts. The 62nd Precinct serves Bensonhurst, Bath Beach and Gravesend.

 

ICE CREAMED

Four black men allegedly failed to pay for ice cream from a merchant on Shore Parkway near 24th Avenue and then pushed him to the ground and stole $100 plus his cell phone from his pocket at around 5:50 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27, said police. The suspects reportedly fled on bicycles.

 

TOOL GRABS

Police arrested a 33-year-old man for allegedly stealing three metal beams from the backyard of a 64th Street home near 21st Avenue at around 1:25 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27, after which he reportedly attempted to enter the house via a rear door only to be spotted by the homeowner. The suspect was caught a short time later carrying burglar tools.

Someone stole copper pipes, copper elbows and other construction materials from a home on 82nd Street near 23rd Avenue some time after 6 p.m. on Monday, August 25, said police.

A threading machine and other construction materials were taken from a site on Bay 31st Street near Benson Avenue between 4 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27 and 9 a.m. the next day, said police.

 

MISSING WHEELS

A 2013 gray Infiniti G37 Sedan was stolen from its parking spot on 66th Street between 21st Avenue and Bay Parkway some time after 1 a.m. on Thursday, August 28, said police.

A 2012 red Yamaha R6 motorcycle was taken from its parking spot near Bay 38th Street and Shore Parkway some time after 11 a.m. on Monday, August 25, police said.

 

PHONE-Y REPAIRMEN

Police are searching for two men who were spotted working on a phone pole and banging in the backyard of a home on Lake Street near Avenue S, between August 29 and 30, during the time that the homeowner says someone removed window security bars and entered his home, stealing $5,200 in cash plus a laptop and jewelry.

 

RANSACKED CARS

Someone stole a wallet from a car parked on 15th Avenue near 80th Street some time after 4 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26, said police, who received another report of a wallet stolen from a parked car – located on West 11th Street near Quentin Road – some time after 7 p.m. on Monday, August 25.
