Brava, Bravo!

On Sunday, September 21, the Bay Ridge Ambulance Volunteer Organization marked a milestone – its 40th anniversary – with over 250 people in attendance to celebrate the group and wish it well as it moves forward into the future.

Responding to between 800 and 900 emergencies a month, according to activist Larry Morrish, one of the organization’s earliest supporters, BRAVO continues its hard work to help people in the community.

“BRAVO has helped half a million people and they continue to help people,” stressed Morrish, who said that the event, at the Dyker Beach Golf Course, stirred up “old memories of old friends.”

BRAVO, headquartered at 85th Street and Seventh Avenue, started up officially in 1974 providing emergency medical services to Bay Ridge, Fort Hamilton and Dyker Heights, 24/7.

“I’m honored it’s still going on,” Morrish said.
