Parkville All Star Game shows value of defense

West 14 vs East 2

The low-scoring major division all-star game in Parkville’s Full Tackle Football League established the tempo of this defensive battle. There was no scoring until the second quarter when Jonathan “Tombstone” Hockfeld recovered an East fumble in the end zone and picked up six points for the West.

The West was on a roll and the adrenalin was pumping when Derek Hernandez handed the ball to Julio Felix. Felix busted through the East line and fought his way five yards to score. For the extra point attempt, Hernandez found Kellan “A-Train” Cohill open and hit him with a spiral, putting the tally at 13 to zilch.

By the second half, it was clear that the West was determined to keep the East out of sacred ground. Matthew “Sure Thing” Sciarrone was nothing less than awesome with at least six classic tackles and one sack. Others on the West team like Daniel “Bone Breaker” Dasaro were equally as aggressive. Dasaro had a fumble recovery. Other key moves were made by the fierce Hockfeld (safety), Charles Corbin (blocked pass) and Jhomar Bennett (four brutal tackles).

In the third quarter, Lady Luck tilted toward the East Team when Jake Roth picked up two points with his safety, making the score 13-2. The next score would be a West safety in the fourth quarter by Hockfeld, for his second safety of the game. The final tally was 15- 2 West.

Some of the outstanding players on the East Team were Dylan “Dead End” Salas (six major Tackles), Justice “Ice Man” Doyle (five textbook tackles), Jadin Goodman (a cool interception), Solomon “The Warrior” Mercado (five tackles and a key recovery), Jason “Wolf Man” Perlstein (fur tackles), and Justin Burgos (five slick tackles).
