Blotter: 62nd Precinct

Between Tuesday, March 10 and Monday, March 16, the 62nd Precinct received reports of one robbery, three grand larcenies, one felony assault, and one grand larceny auto. The 62nd Precinct serves Bensonhurst, Bath Beach and Gravesend.

GOLD CHASE

A 21-year-old black man led police on a chase after he pointed a gun at and stole a gold chain from a DJ at a bar near Stillwell and 25th Avenues at around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 15.

According to cops, the DJ and his friends jumped into their own cars and went after the perp who fled southbound on 25th Avenue with the gold chain. They saw the perp get into the back of a Chrysler with someone already in the driver’s seat and followed the vehicle along 86th Street heading toward the Belt Parkway.

The man driving the Chrysler told police that the perp entered his vehicle and forced him to drive away from the scene. While the car was in motion near Emmons Avenue and Shore Parkway, the perp reached out the back passenger window and fired several shots at the cars that were following him.

Police apprehended the perp on the Belt Parkway near the Marine Park exit.

STANDING ROOM ONLY

A bus driver reported 36 seats, speakers, and a TV missing from his bus that was parked near 14th and Benson Avenues on Monday, March 16 at around 4:15 a.m. Police report that an unknown perp also tried to steal the vehicle by removing the “ignition key hold” and caused damage to the passenger side door key hole.

TOUGH WORK BREAK

On Monday, March 16 at approximately 3:45 p.m., a 21-year-old woman working at a restaurant near 86th Street and 15th Avenue reported property worth $390 and multiple credit/debit cards stolen from her locker at work. There was a camera inside the premises and police will review the footage once they receive it.

CLEAN SWIPE

An identified perp stole laundry change dispensers and about $150 worth of other property from a basement laundry room located inside of an Avenue P building on Tuesday, March 10 at around 8 p.m. According to police, the perp fled on foot and there was no evidence of forced entry.

FRIEND OR FOE

A 31-year-old man told police that his friend pulled out a knife and cut him on his hand after a verbal dispute about money on Sunday, March 15 at around 6:15 p.m. near 20th Avenue and 84th Street. The cut to the victim’s hand needed stitches and it is not clear if the perp has been apprehended.

MARCH MADNESS

On Saturday, March 14, a 44-year-old man reported his Honda Accord missing from where he had parked it near Lake Street and Avenue S. The man told police that he had last seen the car around noon and noticed it missing around 6 p.m.
