Animal adoptions have just been made easier.
Nonprofit organization Animal Care & Control of NYC (AC&C) recently announced the launch of its new free mobile phone app for iPhone that will allow users to view official, up-to-date listings of AC&C animals that are available for adoption within the three centers in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Staten Island. The app, developed by McGill DevTech, LLC, is designed to raise awareness of the 250-500 animals in AC&C shelters that are looking for homes.
“Our goal at AC&C is to connect as many families as possible with loving pets who need homes,” said Executive Director of AC&C Risa Weinstock. “The app for iPhone makes this process easier than ever by connecting potential adopters with accurate information about our available animals in a simple, easy to use format. This will ultimately result in more adoptions and lives saved.”
The easy-to-use app includes a menu that divides categories that users can select from: dogs, cats or rabbits. It will also include information about and a description of each pet, with users having the ability to email pre-populated inquiries directly to AC&C adoption counselors. Users can share pet profiles and photos with various social media sites, such as Facebook and Twitter.
Animal Care Centers are open daily for adoptions, 12-8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.
The AC&C app is available for free from the App Store on iPhone by searching “ACC of NYC” at www.itunes.com/appstore. For more information on the app or AC&C, visit www.nycacc.org.
