An off-duty NYPD officer was pronounced dead at Lutheran Medical Center after reportedly shooting himself in the head inside of a home near 71st Street and Narrows Avenue.
According to reports, the incident occurred sometime around 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 12 within the confines of the 68th Precinct.
The victim is said to be 48-year-old Sergeant James Fitzpatrick, a 24-year veteran of the NYPD.
The incident is under investigation.
