68th Precinct gets new van

A new van is a go for the 68th Precinct thanks to State Senator Marty Golden. The senator joined members of the NYPD on Thursday, April 30 outside of the precinct on 65th Street to unveil the brand new vehicle, a critical addition for the precinct’s auxiliary officers.

“This is a great day for the 68th Precinct, but it’s really a great day for our community,” said Golden. “It was important that we come and we deliver this vehicle but if you take a look at the number of different events that go on throughout our communities, and if you see what’s going on in our city today, what you want is not just more police officers, but more assistance from the auxiliary police forces so that they can go out there and assist our Police Department.”

The van was acquired through a grant Golden secured in the State Senate.

“This is a great joy for me to able to deliver this vehicle to them,” added Golden. “It’s been a long time, 18 years, since a van has been delivered to this precinct so we are happy to be able to get that delivered and to have it operational.”
