Brooklyn enjoys its second Weekend Walk Marketplace

The fun was back again as 18th Avenue was transformed into a pedestrian-only strip between Bay Ridge Parkway and 86th Street for the thoroughfare’s second Weekend Walk.

On Saturday, July 25, merchants along the avenue had the opportunity to strut their stuff, giving residents a chance to enjoy the strip’s culinary specialties and shop in a leisurely fashion.

As it was the previous week, when 18th Avenue between 62nd Street and Bay Ridge Parkway was transformed into a pedestrian plaza, Weekend Walk Marketplace was again presented by the 18th Avenue Merchants Association with support from Community Board 11 and the Federation of Italian-American Organizations (FIAO) of Brooklyn.

“This Weekend Walk turned out to be even better than the first. We really needed that one thing that Brooklynites could remember this summer, and I think this was it,” said New York City Councilmember Mark Treyger, who represents the area.
