Family of woman killed hopes to raise money for son

The family of Danielle Aronsen – a Sunset Park resident who was killed on Thursday, August 20 when she fell out of the backseat of a moving car in Bay Ridge – has started an online fundraiser in hopes of raising money for her two-year-old son, Andrew.

“Danielle was only 29 years old and was the mother of a two-year-old boy,” wrote Aronsen’s cousin and GoFundMe page organizer Kaitlyn Rynn. “Her family can use all the help they can get during this difficult and devastating time.”

A goal of $15,000 was set on Saturday, August 22, with just over 100 people raising more than $8,000 in only two days.

“Love and peace from Kansas during this sad time,” wrote one Good Samaritan, donating from states away. “Little fella is in my heart.”

Closer to home, members of the Sunset Parker Facebook page expressed their shock and sorrow. “Very nice family. My heart goes out to them. They are in so much pain,’ wrote one, while another said, “A friend of mine for years. So sad. Rest in peace, Danielle.”

Aronsen’s son was in the thoughts of many. “How do you explain it…I have no words,” remarked one page member, who referred others to the GoFundMe page.

Donations, Rynn said, will be used to offset funeral costs and to aid Aronsen’s family in raising little Andrew.

“Please consider donating in lieu of flowers,” she said, stressing, “No donation is too small.”
