SJC Brooklyn partners with Greenlight Bookstore for Brooklyn Voices Literary Series

Some of the nation’s most fascinating authors in fiction and nonfiction will be heading to St. Joseph’s College (SJC) as the college kicks off the fall 2015 Brooklyn Voices lecture series. In partnership with Greenlight Bookstore, this three-month series kicks off on Saturday, September 26 in SJC Brooklyn’s Tuohy Hall Auditorium.

“Greenlight’s partnership with SJC Brooklyn has definitely been the determining factor in us securing many of our off-site events,” said Greenlight Bookstore Co-owner and Events Coordinator Jessica Stockton Bagnulo. “Greenlight is one of the newcomers to the neighborhood and we are ecstatic to be collaborating with an institution that is as historic as St. Joseph’s College.”

SJC Brooklyn has been partnering with Greenlight Bookstore since 2012 to present the Brooklyn Voices series of literary presentations and discussions.

“Brooklyn Voices has brought renowned authors to Brooklyn, enriching the life of the college and our community,” said Dr. Jill Rehmann, vice president of academic affairs at SJC Brooklyn. “St. Joseph’s College is very proud to host this literary series in partnership with Greenlight Bookstore and we look forward to another exciting season this fall.”

This year’s lineup features leading authors in fiction and nonfiction, including:

  • Jonathan Franzen presents Purity, in conversation with Wyatt Mason on Saturday, September 26 at 6 p.m. Tickets: $30;
  • Kristin Hersh presents Don’t Suck, Don’t Die: Giving Up Vic Chesnutt, in conversation with Amanda Petruisch on Wednesday, October 21 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets: $23; and,
  • Joseph Fink and Jeffrey Cranor present Welcome to Night Vale on Thursday, November 12 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets: $20.

All Brooklyn Voices events require a ticket for admission. Attendees receive a copy of the featured book and an opportunity to have it signed following the talk.

In 2013, SJC Brooklyn launched the Writer’s Foundry MFA program, featuring distinguished faculty members including Chris Adrian (The Children’s Hospital), Ayana Mathis (The Twelve Tribes of Hattie) and Justin Torres (We the Animals).
