A 56-year-old woman died on Thursday, October 1 after her car struck a light pole near 24th Avenue and Bath Avenue, within the confines of the 62nd Precinct.
According to police, units arrived on the scene just before 5 p.m. when they discovered the victim, identified as Bath Beach resident Mitzi Imbo, with severe trauma to the chest.
She was transported to Coney Island Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
An investigation revealed that Imbo’s car – a gray 2008 Toyota Rav 4 – was heading southbound on 24th Avenue when it continued through Bath Avenue and struck the light pole.
There were no other vehicles involved in the incident, which is still under investigation by the NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad.
