Multi-car morning crash causes backups on Gowanus near Bay Ridge

A multi-vehicle crash on the outbound Gowanus Expressway left three people injured and at least one car in shambles this morning, according to officials.

Reports claim that as many as four vehicles collided on the westbound Gowanus Expressway at Seventh Avenue and 66th Street in Bay Ridge just past 6 a.m. on Thursday, December 7.

According to the FDNY, the call – which came in at 6:14 a.m. – was deemed under control as of 7:29 a.m. Furthermore, reps said, three civilians were sent to NYU Lutheran Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, while a fourth refused medical attention at the scene.

All lanes were said to be closed on the outbound, as well as the inbound HOV lane following the accident. Lanes were reopened as of 8:30 a.m. with delays stretching back to Staten Island and over the Verrazano Bridge long into the rush hour commute.
